PEORIA, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis shuffled its line-up on Friday afternoon as the Panthers played at Bradley. The Panthers went up early 1-0 winning the doubles point but could not sustain that momentum losing the match 5-2.
EIU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match as the Panthers won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova and
Brittany Steven teamed at No. 1 doubles winning 6-4 to clinch the match.
Christine Gouws and
Addison Brown, playing at No. 3 doubles, had opened with a 6-3 win before Bradley won at No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 doubles win gave EIU the early advantage in the match.
Bradley would then win five straight points in singles play winning in the top five spots in the line-up. Bukraba-Ulanova moved up to play at No. 2 singles and pushed her match to three sets before falling 4-6, 7-6, 10-8.
Lauren Ellis would collect the final point for EIU winning a three-set contest at No. 6 singles. Ellis won 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.
EIU falls to 1-7 on the year while Bradley improved to 5-3.
