OMAHA, Neb. - Eastern Illinois (0-5-2, 0-4-2 Summit) fell 2-0 in the opening game of the series against the Omaha Mavericks (4-1-0, 3-1-0 Summit). EIU managed 11 shots, three of which were on goal, in today's match.Â

The Panthers and Mavericks both started aggressively to open the match.
Jonas Castelhano took the first shot for the Panthers in the sixth minute of play, but it was too high. Still, the Panthers had managed to take five shots in the first half, while Burke held the Mavs scoreless with three saves. The game was tied at half 0-0.
In the 48th minute of the play, the Mavs were able to score the first goal of the match. The Panthers continued to battle for possession and shots, but the Mavs again scored in the 79th minute to put EIU at a 2-0 deficit. EIU was unable to find the back of the net, and the Panthers fell in the opening game of the series 2-0.
