DEKALB, Ill. - Eastern Illinois men's tennis played a pair of matches on Wednesday at Northern Illinois with the Huskies knocking off the Panthers in both matches.
NIU, which is ranked 37th in the nation, won the opening match 6-1 and the second match 7-0.
In the opener,
Cameron Slabbert picked up a win at No. 6 singles for the Panthers beating Luke VanDonslear 6-2, 7-6.Â
Charles Courteau, playing at No. 4 singles, pushed his match to three sets before losing to Victor Spolidorio. Courteau won the opening set 6-4 before losing in set two and three, 6-3, 10-4.
Karan Srivastava challenged at No. 1 singles losing 7-5, 6-3.Â
In the second match, EIU adjusted its line-up.Â
Christos Kyrillou and
Thomas Wallace were tied 4-4 at No. 1 doubles with the match left unfinished after NIU clinched the doubles point winning at No. 2 and 3 doubles.Â
In singles play
Rohan Srivastava played his first match of the season losing at No. 6 singles to Donslear, 6-2, 6-0.
Leighton Brandon moved up to play at No. 1 singles losing 6-1, 6-2.
