BY THE NUMBERS
FROM THE KICK
The Panthers allowed two goals to the Roos early into the game. Kansas City scored their first in the tenth minute of play and then another in the 12th. EIU was able to tighten up defensively, however, as the team made adjustments to push the Roos into uncomfortable spots on the pitch. The Panthers were able to put a shot in the back of the net. Lurbe found Axthelm on the run, and Axthelm put it past the Roos keeper. At the end of the first half, the Roos led 2-1.
In the second half of play, the Panthers and Roos played a much more defensive game. The Panthers were able to muster seven shots in the second half, two more than the first half of play while holding the Roos to only five shots. The Roos were able to score one of their attempts, however, on a Hugo Gutierrez goal: his second of the game. The Panthers were unable to score in the second half and fell 3-1 to Kansas City.
