Women's Tennis Drops Saturday Match At Milwaukee

Rachel Papavasilopoulos wins at No. 1 singles for EIU

MILWAUKEE – Rachel Papavasilopoulos picked up the lone point for Eastern Illinois women's tennis on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers wrapped up their two match road trip at Milwaukee.  Milwaukee beat EIU 6-1.

Papavasilopoulos, who lost her first match since April 2019 on Friday night at Northern Illinois, rebounded Saturday for a 6-3, 7-5 win over Greta Carbone at No. 1 singles.

The point had come for EIU after Milwaukee had already secured the overall match victory by winning the doubles point and with wins at No. 5, 4 and 2 singles.

Milwaukee opened the match winning at No. 3 and 2 doubles to secure the point.   The No. 1 doubles match was left unfinished with Addison Brown and Christine Gouws trailing 5-4 in the match.

Milwaukee would win four of their five singles matches in straight sets.  Lauren Ellis, playing at No. 6 singles for EIU, forced her match against Lucy Harper to three sets before falling, 6-3, 6-7 (8-6), 10-3.

EIU fell to 1-6 on the season while Milwaukee improved 6-2.
