JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Eastern Illinois softball scored four runs late on Sunday but could not hold off a late rally from Jacksonville State for the third straight game.
Alex Howard's two-run pinch hit double in the bottom of the seventh gave JSU a 7-6 win over EIU.
Megan Burton hit her team leading 14th home run in the third inning to tie the game at 2-2.Â
EIU then took a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning with a solo home run by
Amber Cieplinski and RBI by
Katie Nicholson.
Shelby Newsome would tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth for JSU with a sacrifice fly to left.
In the top of the seventh EIU built a 6-4 lead with
Hannah Cravens driving in both runs with a double.Â
JSU opened the seventh with two hits and a walk. Karsen Mosley's double cut the EIU lead to one. Following a sacrifice bunt to put runners at second and third, Howard stepped up to deliver the winning hit.
