CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis hosted the first of two weekend Ohio Valley Conference matches on Friday afternoon playing Belmont on the Darling Courts.

Belmont picked up the 6-1 win as they improved to 2-1 in the OVC, 9-2 overall.Â

EIU fell to 2-12 overall, 0-3 in the OVC. EIU hosts Tennessee State at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the Panthers will honor seniors
Daniel Hernandez,
Juan Carlos Garrido, and
Quinn Camfield.Â

On Friday EIU competed in the doubles points before losing the overall point with losses at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Playing at No. 3 doubles
Leighton Brandon and
Charles Courteau were tied 5-5 with their match left unfinished.

In singles play EIU scored its point in the match at No. 4 singles as
Christos Kyrillou picked up a three set win over Diego Castro. Kyrillou won 6-2, 2-6, 12-10.

Hernandez returned to the Panthers line-up for the first time in several weeks sliding down to play at No. 2 singles as
Karan Srivastava played his fourth match this season at No. 1 singles.

Brandon, Kyrillou and
Charles Courteau were all able to adjust in the line-up with the return of Hernandez playing at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles.Â
Cameron Slabbert played at No. 6.
