Day One OVC Results

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Eastern Illinois men's golf opened play at the 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Sunday afternoon at the RTJ Golf Trail Shoals Course.
 
The Panthers are in tenth place on an opening day that saw nine players attack the course and shoot rounds under par.   EIU was led by Pierce Allord who shot an opening round of 3-over, 75 to stand tied for 25th after the opening 18 holes.
 
Keegan Gowin was one stroke back in a tie for 27th with Preston Smith shooting an opening round 78 to tie for 38th.
 
Ben Lanman and Sebastian Olrog rounded out the five EIU golfers in the opening round.  Lanman carded a round of 82 followed by Olrog's 86.
 
SIUE leads the team championship as three strokes separate the top four teams in the standings. 
 
Jack Story (UT Martin), Joe Muschong (Morehead State) and Zakariya Butt (SIUE) are all tied for the individual lead after rounds of 68.
