CHARLESTON, ILL – Eastern Illinois men's soccer defeated the UIC Flames 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in the second of their two exhibition matches this fall.
 
Shady Omar and Julian Smith both scored three goals apiece for the Panthers. Maxwell Allen recorded two assists.

Omar opened up the scoring with a goal in the 24th minute. UIC's Alwin Seitz scored the tying goal in the 32nd minute to make the score 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Omar scored back-to-back goals within a minute of each other to give EIU a 3-1 lead. UIC's Pau Mateo then pulled the Flames back to within 3-2 in the 50th minute before Smith's three goals in the final 30 minutes of play secured the win for the Panthers.
 
The Panthers will open up regular season play on Friday night against Xavier in Cincinnati, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
