CHARLESTON, ILL -- The Eastern Illinois men's soccer's match vs. Milwaukee was called at halftime due to a severe thunderstorm that rolled through the area.
Weather was anticipated to be a factor going into the match, as the start time was moved up to 11:30 am from the original start time of 1 pm. The two teams were tied 0-0 at halftime and the players were out on the field warming up for the second half when the decision was made to suspend the match after a lightning strike was spotted within 10 miles of the field.
After a series of delays, the decision was made to cancel the match. There is currently no scheduled make-up date.
EIU will host Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday, September 3. Kickoff is set for 1 pm.
