CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois posted its third shutout of the season as the Panthers moved to 2-2-1 on the season with a 1-0 win over Chicago State on Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field.
 
The EIU defense was able to help goalkeeper Faith Davies post her third clean sheet of the season as the Panthers did not allow a Chicago State shot on goal.  In the match the Cougars had eight total shots.
 
EIU's offense came late in the first half as Serra Pizano was able to break free and knock home a pass from Michaela Danyo in the 43rd minute. 
 
It was one of 11 shots in the match for EIU, four of them on goal.  Amanda DaSilva, Nicoletta Anuci, Danyo and Pizano all had shots on goal for EIU.
 
The Panthers travel to play at Cincinnati on Sunday evening with the match carried on ESPN+ with a 5 p.m. kick.
