CHARLESTON, ILL -- Eastern Illinois Men's Soccer was defeated 5-1 by the Northern Illinois Huskies on Tuesday afternoon at Lakeside Field. The loss drops the Panthers to 0-3 on the season.
The Huskies set the tone early with three goals in the game's first 12 minutes. NIU then added another goal in the 36th minute to take a 4-0 lead before
Prince Okonny netted the only goal of the game for the Panthers to cut the lead to 4-1. NIU added another goal in the 86th minute to seal the win.
NIU outshot EIU 14-4, including a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Huskies also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Along with Okonny,
Jonas Castelhano,
Lenni Kirschner, and
Nikola Salopek each had a shot for the Panthers.
Next up, EIU will head on the road to take on the Bellarmine Knights . Kickoff is scheduled for 3 pm.
