PARK RIDGE, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis played the first of three weekend road matches losing on Friday afternoon 5-2 to Chicago State.

EIU fell to 0-5 on the season and will play North Dakota on Saturday in Milwaukee and close out the weekend against Marquette on Sunday. Chicago State improved to 2-2 on the year.

In the doubles contest EIU's doubles team of
Christos Kyrillou and
Thomas Wallace gave the Panthers an early edge with 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Chicago State would come back to capture the overall doubles point with 6-4 wins at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, EIU had wins in a pair of matches.Â
Charles Courteau had the first win of the match for EIU with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles over Jesus Perez Plaza.

EIU's other singles win was a three set victory by Kyrillou playing at No. 2 singles. He won 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 over J. Sanchez Pradillo.
