LOUISVILLE, Ky. -
Dustin Hatfield placed fifth in a solid field on Saturday morning at the Live In Lou Louisville Cross Country Classic. Hatfield led the Panther men to a 13th place finish in a field that included 11 Division I regionally ranked teams.
The EIU women placed 26th in a field that included ten regionally ranked women's teams.
Kate Bushue was the Panther women's top finisher in 59th place.
Hatfield covered the 8K course at the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in a time of 23:26.8, Tanner Chada of Grand Valley State was the event champion just ahead of runners from Auburn and Cincinnati in second, third and fourth place.
Adam Swanson was EIU's second finisher in the race crossing in 66th with a time of 24:27.7.
Richie Jacobo was the third Panther to cross in 78th place with a time of 24:36.9.
Josh Whitaker and
Andrew Pilat were EIU's final runners in the top five. Whitaker placed 118th with a time of 24:56.8. Pilat was 131st with a time of 25:01.3.
Bushue paced the women's team with a 5K time of 17:44.5 to finish in 59th.
Sarah Carr was EIU's second runner to cross the line in 146th with a time of 18:24.8.
Katie Springer,
Mackenzie Aldridge and
Sam Mabry were the Panthers final three runners in the top five. Springer was 157th with a time of 18:28.7. Aldridge was 185th with a time of 18:37.7 and
Sam Mabry was 213th with a time of 18:53.5.
Alex Gomez in 218th and
Breanna Sheldon in 293rd rounded out the seven scored EIU competitors for the women.
Noah Schalliol in 175th and
Jonathan Kang in 195th closed out the seven scored EIU runners for the men.
