NORMAL, Ill. – Eastern Illinois opened up a two-match weekend on Friday afternoon with a 7-0 loss at Illinois State.
EIU will travel to IUPUI on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers fell to 0-8 on the season while ISU improved to 2-8.
The Redbirds captured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 doubles match featuring EIU's
Christos Kyrillou and
Thomas Wallace went to a tiebreak before ISU won 7-6 (7-5).
In singles action, ISU won all six singles matches in two sets.
Leighton Brandon had a solid match playing at No. 1 singles for EIU. He would lose to Nam Pham – 6-2, 7-5.

Tyler Carlin battled against Diego Herrera before falling 7-5, 6-4.
