PEKIN, Ill. – Omaha women's tennis picked up the deciding point with a win at No. 5 singles on Saturday afternoon as the Mavericks beat Eastern Illinois 4-2 in a match played at the Parkside Fitness Center.

Omaha took a 1-0 lead in the match winning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles. EIU was leading 5-4 at No. 1 doubles with team of
Rachel Papavasilopoulos and
Brittany Steven.

Omaha extended the lead to 2-0 with a win at No. 6 singles. EIU evened the match at 2-2 with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.

Papavasilopoulos won at No. 1 singles beating Madison Gallegos 6-2, 6-2

Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova won at No. 2 singles beating Rachel Osborn 6-1, 6-4.

Omaha then moved one point closer to the team win with a victory at No. 4 singles.

Christine Gouws was leading in the third set playing against Ines Absisan at No. 3 singles when Omaha clinched the win with their victory at No. 5 singles. Gouws was leading 3-6, 6-4, 3-0 with the match left unfinished.

EIU fell to 0-7 and was playing Bradley on Saturday evening. Omaha moved to 6-2. Â
