Eastern Illinois capped off their final home regular season indoor track meet Friday evening as they Panthers competed in the annual EIU Friday Night Meet. Eight Panthers took home first places finishes, while multiple Panthers set new personal records to end the season.
In the men's weight throw,
Bradley Olysav set his new season best with a distance of 16.51m while also taking home third place. Olysav also took home second place in the men's shot put with a throw of 15.73. On the women's side,
Taylor Iverson finished in second place in the weight throw with a distance of 15.31m.
Marie Koch also won the women's shot put with a distance of 12.74m.
James Boyd finished Friday's meet with a second place finish in the men's pole vault. His final vault was 3.95m.
Hallee Thomas also placed second in the women's pole vault with a jump of 3.20m, which ties her season best set at the John Craft Invite.
Gregory Downs got on the board with a first place finish in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.64m.
Madison Myrick followed up with a impressive performance in the women's high jump with a distance of 1.65m. That jump set a new season best for Myrick. On the men's high jump,
Steven Rowe and
Porter Conroy tied for first place with a distance of 1.95m which set a new career best for Conroy.
In the one mile run,
Nick Oakley shattered his personal best by nine seconds in rout to a first place finish with a time of 4:13.58. His time also places him third in the Ohio Valley Conference. During the men's 400m dash,
Makhtar Mbaye placed second with a time of 51.78.
For the third straight meet, a Panther has broken a top-10 record held at EIU.
Shanisa Stinson placed second in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.63 which is now seventh ll-time at EIU and currently first in the OVC. She also set her new PR with that time. Thomas also placed third in that event with a time of 9.11, which puts her at 10th in the conference. In the men's 60m hurdles,
Stenoree Allen placed first with a time of 8.37,
Elijah Skutt finished second with a new PR time of 8.51 (time ranked ninth in the OVC), and
Ramsey Hunt finished in third with a time of 8.94.
Brailyn Johnson also set a new PR in the men's 60m dash while earning first with a time of 6.86.
Austin Romine earned a second place finish in the men's 800m with a finals time of 1:58.72.Â
Zakiya Johnson (25.85) and
Alicia Adams (25.92) placed second and third in the women's 200m dash Friday evening.
Ricky Johnson also set a new conference best time in the men's 200m with a time of 22.12. He also placed first in the finals.
Jason Miller followed right behind him with a time of 22.77. During the men's 3000m,
Will Bullock finished fourth with a time of 9:10.59.
The Panthers will return to action next Wednesday, Feb. 23 thur Thursday, Feb. 24 at the OVC Indoor Championships held at Birmingham, Ala. LiveStats and video will be made available.
