O'FALLON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois lost in a midweek match at Saint Louis as the Panthers won at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles during a 6-1 loss.
Rachel Papavasilopoulos won her fifth singles match of the season at No. 1 singles as the senior won in two sets over Elizabeth Mintusova, 6-1, 6-1.
Papavasilopoulos teamed with
Brittany Steven playing at No. 1 doubles for EIU with the pair winning 6-3.
EIU and SLU each opened with a win in doubles action with the Billikens winning at No. 2 doubles before EIU's win at No. 1 doubles. Saint Louis then secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
SLU quickly jumped out a 3-0 lead in the match with wins at No. 6 and 5 singles before Papavasilopoulos posted her win to give EIU its first point.
Playing at No. 2 singles
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova pushed her opening set to a tie-break before falling in two sets – 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
EIU drops to 0-10 on the season while SLU improved to 7-4.
