INDIANAPOLIS – Eastern Illinois women's tennis picked up its first win of the season on Sunday evening as the Panthers won a rescheduled match with IUPUI by a 6-1 count.
EIU secured the doubles point with a win by default at No. 3 doubles and a decisive 6-1 win by
Addison Brown and
Christine Gouws at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play both teams slid up their line-ups with
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova and Gouws both picking up wins for EIU at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
Bukraba-Ulanova won 6-3, 6-4 over Meghan Bernard playing at No. 1 singles.
Gouws won in three sets over Sarah Lounsbury at No. 2 singles winning 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.
EIU clinched the final three points by default at the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles positions.
EIU improved to 1-11 on the year with the win while IUPUI dropped to 1-10.
