O'FALLON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis lost its midweek match on Wednesday at Saint Louis as the Panthers dropped the 5-2 match at the St. Clair Tennis Club.

EIU won points at No. 3 and No. 4 singles in the match and had the doubles point decided on a tiebreak to hand the Billikens the point.

In doubles play Saint Louis opened winning the No. 2 doubles contest. EIU then evened the doubles play at 1-1 with a win at No. 1 doubles by
Thomas Wallace and
Christos Kyrillou. The pair won 6-4 picking up their fourth win this season at No. 1 doubles. The deciding match was at No. 3 doubles with SLU's doubles team of Jonathan Sadowski and Eliott Ekindi edging EIU's doubles pair of
Tyler Carlin and
Max Pilipovic-Kljajic in a tiebreak – 7-6 (7-5).

SLU would extend its lead in the match to 2-0 with a win at No. 2 singles before
Cameron Slabbert clinched EIU's first point in the match with a two set win at No. 3 singles. Slabbert won 6-1, 7-6 (9-7).

The Billkens locked up the overall win in the match with wins at No. 6 and No. 1 singles before EIU won its second point.

Charles Courteau, who was named the OVC Men's Singles Tennis Player of the Week, picked up a three set win with a super tiebreak victory. Courteau won 7-6, 4-6, 10-5 for the Panthers second win in the match.
The Panthers fell to 1-14 on the season. Saint Louis improved to 5-6.
