CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis picked up its first Ohio Valley Conference win of the season on Friday afternoon as the Panthers defeated Tennessee State 7-0.

The match began with the doubles point at the outdoor Darling Tennis Courts with EIU winning at No. 3 doubles by default and then clinching the point with a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles by
Christine Gouws and
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova.

During singles play rain forced the match to be moved indoors to the Lantz Fieldhouse where the Panthers were able to collect wins in all six singles matches as they improved to 3-16 overall, 1-4 in the OVC. TSU fell to 0-12 overall, 0-4 in the OVC.

Lauren Ellis had a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles while
Brittany Steven won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Rachel Papavasilopoulos (No. 1), Bukraba-Ulanova (No. 2) and Gouws (No. 3) also posted two set wins in their singles matches.
