Lauren Ellis picked up a three set win for Eastern Illinois women's tennis as the Panthers played an Ohio Valley Conference match at Austin Peay on Saturday afternoon.
APSU won 6-1 to improve to 6-5 overall, 2-0 in the OVC. EIU fell to 2-15 overall, 0-3 in the OVC. EIU travels to play at Murray State on Sunday afternoon.
Ellis picked up the lone point for the Panthers playing at No. 6 singles against Honoka Nakanishi. Ellis dropped the opening set 6-1 before rallying to win the second set 6-2 and then 10-4 in the third set.
EIU would drop two other singles points in three sets as well in a closely contested match.
Rachel Papavasilopoulos lost at No. 1 singles in three sets to Denise Torrealba 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.
Addison Brown would lose to Aleks Topalovic in three sets at No. 4 singles 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-8.
Austin Peay would clinch the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles with the No. 3 doubles match left unfinished.
