Box Score
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri took advantage of some timely hitting on Saturday afternoon as the Redhawks beat Eastern Illinois softball 13-1 in the opening game of their weekend series.
SEMO scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead. That would be all the offense Redhawks starter Rachel Rook would need as she allowed just one EIU hit to improve to 11-6 on the season.
EIU scored its lone run of the game in the second as
Lindy Milkowski led off the inning with a walk. EIU pinch runner
Mikayla Creasbaum would come around to score on a sacrifice fly by
Riley Dittmar. Milkowski had the one hit in the game of the Panthers.
SEMO added five runs in the second inning with Paige Halliwell hitting a two-run home run and Chelsy Pena adding a two-run double.
Halliwell drove in another run in the third before SEMO had home runs by Aubrie Shore and Kynzie Wrigley to cap the scoring.
