CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball
Eastern Illinois softball had two players earn CoSIDA Academic All-District V honors as released by the national organization on Thursday.
Megan Burton and
Hannah Cravens were both selected to the Academic All-District team and both will now be eligible for voting for Academic All-America honors.
Burton is a graduate student that posted a 4.0 GPA as an undergraduate student and currently has a 4.0 as a graduate student majoring in Educational Leadership. Her undergraduate degree was in Kinesiology, Sports and Recreation. The 2021 OVC Player of the Year, Burton finished her EIU career ranking in the top five at EIU for career hits, runs scored, home runs, doubles, RBI and stolen bases. This season she hit .286 with 12 doubles, nine home runs, 34 RBI, 42 runs scored and 14 stolen bases.
Cravens is a senior that graduated this past weekend with a degree in Exercise Science holding a 3.94 GPA. She was named a first team All-OVC selection this season after leading the conference in home runs with 13 while ranking second in the league in both doubles (19) and RBI (43). She finished her EIU playing career ranked in the top ten for doubles, home runs and RBI.
EIU ended its season on Wednesday losing in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
To be considered for Academic All-District, a player must be a sophomore or older in academic standing and have maintained a 3.3 or higher cumulative GPA. Academic All-District is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
