TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Eastern Illinois defense limited Indiana State to just two shots on goal on Thursday evening as the Panther women's soccer team posted its third straight shutout to open the year.

EIU and ISU played to a 0-0 draw as the Panthers are now 1-0-2 on the season. Indiana State is now 0-1-1.

Daniela Bermeo stopped both Sycamore shots on goal with both saves coming in the opening half. ISU did not register a shot on goal in the second 45 minutes of action.

The Panthers backline featured solid play from
Sarah Hagg who logged all 90 minutes on the pitch.Â
Zoe Paxton and
Espi Logan both played more than 60 minutes in the defensive backfield for the Panthers in the shutout.

On the offensive end
Nicoletta Anuci led the Panthers push as she had six of EIU's 11 shots in the match including one of four EIU had on goal.Â
Cam Korhorn had two shots on goal while Hagg had the final one.

It is the first time since the 2008 season that EIU has posted three straight shutouts and the first time in program history EIU has opened a season with three straight shutouts.Â
