Women’s Soccer Falls in OVC Road Match

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Eastern Illinois women's soccer team returns home with a 3-1 loss at Tennessee Tech. EIU is now 2-6-3 in the season with 1-2-1 in the conference. Tennessee Tech moves to a 4-4-3 season record while remaining undefeated in the OVC, 3-0.

The Golden Eagles took an early lead as Yao Giada Zhou scored in the 8th minute of the match, as Tech managed to keep the 1-0 lead at halftime.
 
The second half started with strong offensive action coming from the Golden Eagles. Within less than ten minutes, Tennessee Tech scored twice. First in the 57th minute with Meredith Nye, and in the 65th minute with Katie Toney increasing the score, 3x0. 

In the 85th minute, Abby Reinl scored EIU's goal of the match and her third of the season, but with less than five minutes left on the clock, EIU finished the afternoon defeated, 3-1. 

Up next: EIU will once again travel to Tennessee, but this time to take on UT Martin on Sunday, Oct. 8th. Kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
