MILWAUKEE – Eastern Illinois women's tennis wrapped up a busy weekend on Sunday with a 5-2 loss at Milwaukee which snapped the Panthers two match win streak.
Christine Gouws and
Lauren Ellis both picked up wins for the Panthers as they are 3-4 on the season.
Gouws won a three-set match at No. 1 singles beating Babette Burgersdjik 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 10-7.
Ellis would win in two sets at No. 6 singles as she beat Anouk Ma-Ajong  7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
Milwaukee would win two of the three doubles matches clinching the point with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Â
Brittany Steven and
Madeline Monroy won at No. 2 doubles for EIU, 6-2, after Milwaukee won the opening doubles contest 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.Â
Milwaukee then won the first three points in singles action to clinch the match, the winner coming at No. 3 singles.
Ellis won the fourth singles match and Gouws the final.Â
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova played at No. 2 singles with her three-set match against Anika Tylek finishing fifth. Tylek won 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
EIU returns to action later this week with a match at Saint Louis.
