BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois men's basketball snapped a pair of losing streaks this past week with a pair wins and guard
Cameron Haffner played a part in both of those games as he was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday. It marked the third straight week Haffner has won the award and fourth time overall this season.

Haffner averaged 10.5 points per game for the week as he has scored in double figures in five of his last seven games. He opened the week with 12 points in EIU's home win over UT Martin which snapped a six-game losing skid for the Panthers. On Saturday at SIUE, Haffner drained three 3-pointers finishing with nine points as the Panthers ended a 13-game OVC road losing streak. Haffner shot 41.7 percent from 3-point range for the week and ranks seventh in the league in 3-point field goal percentage. He added six rebounds and three assists to his weekly totals.

Haffner is averaging 6.8 points per game for the season but has increased that scoring total to 8.5 points per game in OVC play. He is one of three EIU freshmen to have won OVC Freshman of the Week this season.Â
