Four Players In Double Figures In Road Loss

Hot shooting lifts Lindenwood over EIU 80-67

ST CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood looked like it couldn't miss early in the second half as the Lions shot 77 percent in the opening 12 minutes of the second half to post a 80-67 win over Eastern Illinois.

EIU and Lindenwood were tied at 28-28 when EIU was called for a technical foul away from the ball following a dunk by Nick Ellington.

The Lions would make one of two at the foul line following the tech but closed the first half on a 10-0 run to lead 38-28 at the half.

In the second half Lindenwood hit 13 of their first 17 shots to lead 71-50 with 7:44 remaining the game.  The Lions were 4-of-13 from the field in the final eight minutes shooting 53 percent for the evening including 12-of-22 from 3-point range.

EIU had a good night from 3-point range themselves shooting 10-of-19 from 3-point range.  Paul Bizimana and Cameron Haffner both hit three 3-pointers as they both scored 11 points, EIU finishing the game with four players in double figures. 

Kyle Thomas had 11 points and Caleb Donaldson ten points to round out the Panthers double figure scorers.  CJ Lane scored eight points off the bench as EIU held a 22-19 advantage in bench production.

Kevin Caldwell Jr led the Lions with 19 points hitting his first five 3-pointers of the night.  A total of four Lindenwood players finished in double figures. 

EIU falls to 7-17 overall, 3-8 in the OVC and will host Tennessee State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.  Lindenwood improves to 8-16 overall, 3-8 in the OVC.
