QUINCY, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis picked up its first win of the spring season as the Panthers posted a 5-2 over Quincy on Friday afternoon.
 
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the match clinching the doubles point with wins a No. 1 and No. singles.   
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova and 
Christine Gouws clinched the doubles point for the Panthers with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles.   
Brittany Steven and 
Madeline Monroy, teamed at No. 2 doubles, had picked up the first doubles match with a 6-3 win.
 
Bukraba-Ulanova and Steven added singles wins for the Panthers with Bukraba-Ulanova giving the Panthers an early 2-0 lead in the match with her 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Blanca Salas Cruz. 
 
After Quincy knotted the match at 2-2 with wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, Steven gave EIU the edge with her three set win at No. 5 singles.  Steven beat Mahi Panchal 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
 
Lauren Ellis clinched the match for the Panthers with her win at No. 6 singles.  Ellis beat Katrin Ismailova 7-5, 6-2 as she won her second singles match of the spring.
 
Jemma Booth rounded out the EIU winners picking up a three set victory at No. 3 singles. Booth won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
 
EIU improves to 1-2 on the season.  Quincy falls to 0-1.Â
