DANVILLE, Ill. –
Madeline Monroy won her sixth straight singles match on Friday as a bright spot for the Eastern Illinois women's tennis team during a 6-1 loss to Chicago State at the Danville Tennis Center.
Monroy won at No. 5 singles edging Manuella Eloundou-Ng in three sets with a 3-6, 7-3, 10-3 win.Â
The match was close throughout with CSU winning two of three doubles contests and then wins in three sets at No. 1 and 2 singles.
In doubles play EIU jumped out with a win at No. 3 doubles as
Lauren Ellis and
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova won 6-2.  CSU would even the doubles point with a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles before clinching the overall point with a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.Â

Christine Gouws at No. 1 singles with a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 win.  Bukraba-Ulanova playing at No. 2 singles lost - 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.
The Cougars added wins at No. 3, 4 and 6 singles to improve to 8-11 on the season. EIU fell to 7-8 and will travel to Florida to face Lehigh on Monday as part of the Panthers Spring Break trip.Â
