DANVILLE, Ill. - Eastern Illinois women's tennis rolled to its fourth consecutive victory as the Panthers beat Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon, 6-1, at the Danville Tennis Center. The win moved EIU to 11-8 on the season and 2-0 in the OVC.
The Panthers quickly won the doubles point winning at No. 3 and 2 doubles and were leading at No. 1 doubles 4-3 when they clinched the point.
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova and
Lauren Ellis won at No. 3 doubles 6-0 followed by the clinching point by
Madeline Monroy and
Brittany Steven at No. 2 doubles winning 6-4.
All six singles matches would finish in their seeded order with EIU winning the first five singles matches. Steven would get beat in the opening set 7-5 but rallied to win the second set 6-2 and the tie-break set 10-7 to win the point.
Jemma Booth's win at No. 3 singles locked up the match for EIU with Booth beating Nawal Cheema 6-1, 6-3.
Christine Gouws won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles followed by Bukraba-Ulanova winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Monroy won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles as she extended her personal win streak to ten straight matches.
Lindenwood fell to 1-7 overall, 0-2 in the OVC.
