NASHVILLE – Eastern Illinois women's tennis continued is solid play winning its fifth straight match as the Panthers improved to 3-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play with a 4-3 win over Tennessee State.

Lauren Ellis posted the deciding point winning at No. 6 singles, 7-5, 6-4 over Franka Sindicic.Â

TSU jumped out to an early lead winning the doubles point with
Brittany Steven and
Madeline Monroy leading for EIU 5-4 at No.2 doubles when the point was clinched by the Tigers.

Monroy evened the match at 1-1 with a quick 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles. It was her 11th straight singles win this season.

The two teams split the next two points with TSU winning at No. 3 singles while
Addison Brown won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles for EIU.

TSU pushed out to a 3-2 lead in the match before the Panthers clinched the final two points.

Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to even the overall match with Ellis then posting the match winner at No. 6.

EIU improved to 12-8 on the season and guaranteed itself a winning season for the first time since 2017. EIU has two regular season OVC matches remaining and the OVC Tournament.Â
