AUSTIN, TEXAS — Eastern Illinois athlete
Ramsey Hunt finished second in the men's long jump at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on Friday, March 31. With his distance of 25'8.75" (7.84m), Hunt now owns the longest long jump mark in school history. The previous record was 25'7.25", set by Darrell Brown in 1974.
The Panthers began action in Austin on Thursday in the 400 meter hurdles, where
Riley Baker finished 36th in the invite with a time of 54.49. In the open,
Jekeel Suber finished 29th out of 54 competitors with a time of 55.03 on the men's side and
Hallee Thomas finished 49th out of 78 competitors with a time of 1:04.41 on the women's side.
Elsewhere at the Texas Relays on Friday,
Akiya Kollore finished 30th in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.92. Thomas posted a new personal best in the women's 100m hurdles timed, finishing with a time of 14.45 for a 43rd place finish out of 78 competitors.Â
Shanisa Stinson tied for 44th with a time of 14.46 in the same race. Â
In the men's 110m hurdles timed,
Jekeel Suber finished 32nd out of 74 competitors with a time of 14.39. In the men's 100 meter timed,
Brailyn Johnson finished second in the 10th heat and 76th overall out of 142 competitors with a time of 10.67.Â
Cameron Yarbrough and
Jahleel Perrin finished the same race with times of 10.79 and 10.93 respectively, placing 103rd and 128th.
Meanwhile, over at the 2023 Bobcat Invitational held at Texas State University in San Marcos,
Ricky Johnson set a new personal best with a time of 21.21 in the men's 200 meter dash, good for an 18th place finish out of 39 participants. In the men's 800 meter run,
Adam Swanson finished with a time of 1:55.38 to place 21st.
The Panthers will wrap up their weekend in the lone star state tomorrow.
