Ignoffo Named To John Olerud Watch List

Names best two-way players in college baseball

LUBBOCK, Texas - Ryan Ignoffo from Eastern Illinois baseball way named to the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List. Ignoffo is the only player from the Ohio Valley Conference to be nominated.

This award is given to the best player in the country that contributes both on the mound and in that batters box. Ignoffo, known for his play as a utility player, has excelled not only has a hitter but also on the mound.

During the 2023 season, Ignoffo is hitting .266 in 32 games played. He is one of two Panthers to play every game. He leads the team in runs scored (28), hits (33), home runs (6), walks (19), RBI (30) and stolen bases (16).

He ranks first in the OVC in sac flies with four and tied for third in stolen bases with 16. In the NCAA, he ranks 56th in stolen bases and 55th in sacrifice flies.

On the mound, Ignoffo has made nine appearances with a 1-1 record and a 7.85 ERA. In 18.1 innings pitched he has allowed 16 earned runs and 19 hits. He also has 20 strikeouts to his name and has held opponents to a .268 batting average.

Ignoffo and the Panthers will be back in action this week as they take on the Fighting Illini from Illinois on Tuesday in CHapaign, Ill. starting at 6:00 p.m.
