2023 OVC Tournament Results
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Senior 
Ben Lanman had the best round of the day for Eastern Illinois as the Panthers closed the 2023 season on Tuesday at the Ohio Valley Conference Golf Championships.
 
Lanman shot a two-over round of 74 during the final 18 holes as EIU placed 8th at championship contested this year at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
 
Keegan Gowin, who had the low round of the tournament for EIU with a 73 on Monday, finished as EIU's overall tournament leader placing tied for 22nd as he shot 76 on the final day.  His 54-hole total was 225 as he finished second in the field with 14 birdies. 
 
After back-to-back rounds of 75 to open the tournament, 
Preston Smith closed play with a 79 on Tuesday to place 30th and rank as EIU's second golfer with a score of 229.
 
Pierce Allord and 
Trey Oswald ended the tournament tied for 32nd for EIU with a 54-hole total of 232.  Allord's best round was 76 during the closing 18 holes on Tuesday. Oswald's best round was a 75 on Monday.
 
Lanman improved his scoring each day to finish with a 54-hole total of 233 and 36th place finish. 
 
Anton Albers was the individual medalist from Little Rock shooting 11-under par for the tournament.  A total of seven individuals ended the 54-holes under par on the Par 72 course.  Little Rock sits in first place following the stroke play portion of the OVC Championship.  The top four teams will now have a match-play championship on Wednesday with Little Rock, SIUE, Southern Indiana and Lindenwood all advancing.Â
