CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois men's tennis wrapped up the home portion of its spring schedule on Saturday facing Belmont for the second time in as many weeks. The Bruins picked up a 6-1 win in Horizon League play over EIU.
Belmont opened winning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles. The Panthers No. 2 doubles team of
Pau Riera and
Alex Dinkov was tied 3-3 and left unfinished after Belmont clinched the point.
In singles play, Belmont captured all six points in two sets. Last week in Nashville,
Thomas Wallace was able to pick up a win at No. 5 singles for EIU. This week he pushed his match to a tie-break in the second set before falling to Riccardo Trione. Trione beat Wallace 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
Tyler Carlin was competitive in his second set losing 6-0, 6-4 to Tomas Luis at No. 3 singles.
EIU falls to 5-12 overall and now 1-6 in the Horizon League. EIU plays at Lindenwood next weekend as they will play their final three matches of the season on the road.
