CHARLESTON, Ill. -  After reporting to campus this past Monday, Eastern Illinois women's soccer team opened up its series of three exhibition matches with a solid 7-0 home win over Parkland College.

The two schools played three 30-minute periods for the exhibition with the Panthers able to keep control of the match throughout the entire first period. However, the ball would not see the back of the net until the second period when freshman Alex Tetteh stole it from the defenders and beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.

A few minutes later, Ella Onstott added another two goals for the Panthers. After scoring three goals within fifteen minutes, EIU's dominance over Parkland stood out. The Panthers managed to find another three goals in the second period with Zenaya Barnes, Megan Kenny, and Nyah Biegler, which gave the team a 6-0 lead into the third period.

During the last period of the match, Peyton Gill added EIU's final goal of the afternoon. Apart from showing a strong offensive game, the Panthers defense allowed Parkland just one shot on goal during the 90 minutes of action.

The Panthers will be back in action for the second exhibition match of the season Thursday hosting IUPUI at Lakeside Field.
