Eastern Illinois and Illinois State finished deadlocked with 12 shots each on Thursday afternoon but a goal in the 12th minute for Illinois State proved to be the difference in a 1-0 Redbirds win at Lakeside Field.
 
EIU had 12 shots in the match but only three on net with Sadie Black, Amara Leppla and Haylee Rios finishing with the shots on goal for the Panthers.
 
Illinois State had nine of its 12 shots on goal with Ava Watson sneaking a ball just over the EIU goalkeepers arm with the ball hitting the inside of the post for the goal.  Sammi Cenek picked up the assist.
 
Ella Kratochvil turned away eight other Illinois State shots on goal in the contest.
 
EIU falls to 2-3-2 on the season. Illinois State improved top 4-1-3.
 
Abby Reinl had a team-high four shot in the match.
