The Eastern Illinois men's soccer team (1-6-1, OVC 0-2) fell short 3-0 to SIUE (3-3-2, OVC 2-0) Thursday Night at Ralph Korte Stadium. The Panthers drop their second conference matchup as early first and second half goals helped to push the Cougars ahead.

SIUE was able to gain the advantage in the first seven minutes of the match, as Pavel Dashin picked up the first goal for the Cougars. This pushed SIUE ahead 1-0 as Eastern Illinois battled to even the score.

The Panthers offense showed life later in the first half, as a yellow card from SIUE Goalkeeper Robert Gjelaj for persisting infringement resulted in a free kick inside the box for EIU. Eastern Illinois was unable to capitalize as the Cougars went into the half with a one goal advantage.

SIUE extended their lead early in the second half as Wes Gibson found the upper left corner of the net, eleven minutes out of the halftime break. Shortly after, Nacho Abeal recorded the third goal of the match for the Cougars in the 57' minute, increasing the lead to 3-0.

Eastern Illinois finished the evening with four shots on goal while allowing nine on the defensive end. The Panthers look to pick up their first conference victory on Sunday at Lindenwood
