Eastern Illinois men's tennis played its first true home contest this spring as the Panthers hosted Northern Kentucky on Friday afternoon at the Rex Darling Courts.

NKU was able to secure the match with a 5-2 win over EIU.

The Panthers two wins both came in singles play as they picked up victories at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots in the playing order.

Pau Riera won at No. 2 singles for EIU beating Brandon Ponomarew in two sets, 7-5, 6-3.

Zach White picked up the other win at No. 4 singles beating Tom Berry in three sets including the third set tie-break.  White won 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4).

Thomas Wallace pushed his match at No. 5 singles to three sets as well before falling to Trevor Ball in the third set tie-break.  Ball won 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8).

The Panthers also picked up one of the doubles matches winning at No. 2 doubles after the Norse had already clinched the overall doubles point. Tyler Carlin and Thomas Wallace won 6-4 in that spot.
