Eastern Illinois women's tennis picked up its first win of the season on Friday afternoon as the Panthers beat Western Illinois, 6-1, in Ohio Valley Conference action.

EIU opened its run to its first win securing the doubles point with a tie-break win at No. 2 doubles.Â
Aleyla Wooten and
Charleigh Fay played at No. 2 doubles and captured the 7-6 (7-5) win. Â
Addison Brown and
Jemma Booth easily won at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1 decision with the Leathernecks winning at No. 3 doubles.

Luisa Renovales Salazar picked up the second point with a win by retirement at No. 5 singles. She was up 1-0 in the first set when her opponent could no longer continue.

Fay added the third EIU point with her win at No. 4 singles beating Agatha Carbonell, 6-3, 6-2.

EIU clinched the overall match victory with a win by Booth at No. 3 singles. Booth won 6-1, 6-1 over Aina Cortina-Pou.

The Panthers final two points came at the top of the playing order.  Wooten won in two sets at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Paige Grice.

Brown closed out the day with a three-set win over Lara Diniz de Souza at No. 1 singles. Brown won 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 1-0 (10-7).
