Eastern Illinois men's tennis opened Horizon League play on Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 win over Lindenwood.
The Panthers got off to a good start winning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.Â
Thomas Wallace and
Tyler Carlin won 6-1 at No.1 singles with
Cameron Slabbert and
Zach White winning 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
EIU won the opening three singles matches to capture the overall match win, claiming victories at No. 6, No. 2 and No. 5 singles.
William Hays won at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Mattis Lamm.
Cameron Slabbert pushed the lead to 3-0 in the match with his win at No. 2 singles. Slabbert won 6-3, 6-2 over Bernardo Henriques.
Thomas Wallace locked up the match with his win at No. 5 singles. Wallace beat Fernando Martin Paz in three sets as four of the six singles matches went three sets. Wallace won 3-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-1.
EIU won its final point at No. 1 singles with
Pau Riera beating Carlos Rodriguez Gonzalez 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-3).
