Eastern Illinois women's tennis played its final regular season match on Wednesday with the contest moved to an early evening contest at the Atkins Tennis Center in Champaign due to rain in Charleston.
The match was played to clinch with Southeast Missouri beating EIU 5-0 including one win by default as injuries forced EIU to play one singles spot down.
SEMO clinched the doubles point winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 doubles match with
Aleyla Wooten and
Charleigh Fay was left unfinished.
Jemma Booth pushed her match at No. 3 singles against Juliette Talieu to three sets. Talieu won 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the final completed match.
Wooten, who earlier this week won her second OVC Singles Player of the Week honor, lost her first conference match of the season. Wooten lost in two sets to Trinity Calinescu with a tiebreak loss in the opening set. Calinescu won 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
EIU returns to action at the OVC Championships on April 19 in St. Louis, Missouri.
