OXFORD, Miss — Following yesterday's first day of competition down in Oxford, Mississippi, the Eastern Illinois Track & Field teams brought their participation to an end in the Ole Miss Joe Walker Invitational this afternoon. The Panthers posted one first place finish and placed multiple athletes in the top ten of their respective event. 

EIU started the second day of competition on high note, as the team of Brailyn Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Daniel Lacy, and Cameron Yarbrough won the 4x100m relay with a time of 40.60 seconds, setting a new season best in the event.

In the men's 100m, Yarbrough finished 12th (10.88) while Brailyn Johnson ranked 15th (10.97).

Billy Bailey Jr. was 11th in the 400m dash after posting a 49.58 race time.

In the men's 110m hurdles, Nathan Kirby (14.82) and Elijah Skutt finished 11th and 12th respectively, with Skutt achieving a season best time of 15.49.
 
On the women's side of track events, Hallee Thomas placed 12th in 100m hurdles with a time of 14.77. Later in the afternoon, Thomas finished the 400m hurdles ranking eighth place for the Panthers, with a time of 1:05.44.

Makenna McBride ranked third in the 400m dash with a time of 56.19. The mark serves as McBride's new personal best in the event.
    
Looking at the field events of the day, Matthew Gladieux ranked eight while Bradley Olysav was 12th in the men's discus. Gladieux reached the 48.27m mark and Olysav posted a distance of 45.64m.

In the shot put, Olysav was eighth (16.02m) while Gladieux ranked tenth (15.54m).

Elijah Skutt was fourth in the men's high jump with a height of 2.04m.
    
OLE MISS DAY ONE RECAP: EIU had two Panthers reaching season bests in yesterday's events. To begin, Bradley Olysav ranked eighth in the men's hammer throw, setting a season best mark of 57.16m.

In the men's long jump, Greg Downs ranked ninth with a distance of 6.80m.
 
Up next, the Panthers are looking at their second consecutive weekend of two meets, as there will be athletes competing in the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational, held in Azusa, California and in the Illinois Gary Wienke Memorial, held in Champaign, Illinois.
