The Eastern Illinois women's soccer team has announced the addition of two players to its 2024 recruiting class.
Isabella Hubble and Amelia Mundo will be joining the Panthers this upcoming fall after playing for Missouri University of Science and Technology during their first year.
Hubble (5'6") is a midfielder from Mascoutah, Ill. She played for Saint Louis Scott Gallagher as well as Mascoutah High School. Hubble comes to EIU after playing for Missouri University of Science and Technology during freshman year, where she appeared in sixteen matches. Prior to joining the Miners, she received IHSSCA All-Sectional and was twice a Regional Champion at the high school level. At the club level, she was a 2021-2022 ECNL All-Regional League Heartland Team and 2nd Team All-Conference MVC.
Head coach
Dirk Bennett added his words on Hubble's understanding of the game: "We were familiar with Bella during her high school recruitment days and I'm excited that fate brought her to EIU after all. She is a hard-nosed central midfielder who isn't afraid to run and defend. She also values the ball, makes simple choices, and helps the ball get from side to side on the switch. Her positional understanding is high and she will give us another solid look in the midfield." said Bennett.
Mundo (5'4") is a midfielder from Northbrook, Ill. She played for Glenbrook North High School, FC United, and Eclipse Select Soccer at the club level. In high school, she received All-Conference, All-Sectional, and MVP awards. Before joining the Panthers, Mundo also spent freshman season at Missouri University of Science and Technology. While playing for the Miners, Mundo appeared in seventeen matches, logging four goals and three assists throughout the season. She was tied for Freshman of the Year in the GLVC, voted as Top Newcomer, and a Miner Cup winner.
Bennett commented on Mundo's strong attacking skills: "Amelia had a great first year at her previous school and has already demonstrated her ability to create and score goals at the college level. She is a dynamic player in the center of the field or out wide and is confident taking players on in 1v1 situations. She will give us another option in our attack and should also help us keep possession in the final third." concluded Bennett.
