FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Eastern Illinois long jumper
Ramsey Hunt is headed to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships following a 12th place finish at the NCAA West Regional on Wednesday night.
Hunt was the final qualifier in the long jump with a mark of 25'3.25" landing him a trip to Eugene, Oregon on June 5.
Adam Swanson also wrapped up his collegiate career on Wednesday night as he placed 45th at the NCAA Regional in the 800-meter run. Swanson ran a time of 1:53.30.
Hunt becomes the latest EIU men's track athlete to qualify for the NCAA National Championships and the first since Swanson qualified and competed in the 800-meter run in 2021.
He is the fifth EIU athlete all-time to qualify for the National Championships in the long jump and the first at the NCAA Division I level. Darrell Brown (1974) and Toni Ababio (1975) both won NCAA Division II National Championships in the long jump.
