2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-American (Baseball)

Lucas Loos from Eastern Illinois baseball has been named a second team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), becoming the 49th student-athlete in school history to earn this national academic honor.
 
Loos, a senior infielder, holds a 4.00 GPA in Exercise Science.  He is the fourth Panther baseball player to earn that honor joining – Erik Huber (2007), Brian Morrell (2008 & 2009) and Trey Sweeney (2021).
 
On the field Loos was a first team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection ranking among the league leaders in several offensive categories.  He set the school single season record with 23 home runs while posting the second most doubles in a year at EIU with 22.  His 61 RBI and .821 slugging percentage both landed at fourth on the Panthers single season charts. Loos finished the year with a .372 batting average with 77 hits and 56 runs scored during the season which also earned him first team All-Region honors.
 
Loos is the second EIU student-athletes to earn Academic All-America honors this academic year joining Giovana Larregui López who was a third team selection from volleyball in the fall.
