Eastern Illinois men's golf opened the 2024 fall season this week with the Panthers placing 17
th at the season opening SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational.

The Panthers opened with a round of 315 before firing one of the best team rounds in recent years with a 286 on Monday afternoon.Ā EIU closed with a team score of 296 to shoot 897 for the weekend finishing just ahead of OVC competitor Western Illinois.

Trey Oswald led the Panthers placing in a tie for 56
th with a 54-hole score of 222.Ā Oswald was consistent throughout the event with a low round of one-over par 72 on Monday afternoon.

The low round of the tournament for EIU belonged to newcomer
Jack Yewchuk who carded a two-under 69 on Monday afternoon.Ā Yewchuk became the 24
th player in school history to shoot a round of 69.Ā He would finish 73
rd at the event shooting a 54-hole score of 226.

Parker Boehne and
Cole Jaworski were just one stroke behind Yewchuk with both golfers finishing tied for 74
th with a score of 227.

Boehne's top round of 72 came on Tuesday in the final round.Ā Jaworski's best round was a 72 on Monday afternoon counting as part of the Panthers score of 286.Ā

Alex Siatos had his best round during the Monday low team score shooting a 73 during the second 18-holes of competition.Ā He would finish in 95
th with a score of 238.

Host SIUE won the team title with Connor Hamm of Bradley winning the individual medalist honors at the Gateway National Golf Links course.
