CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois Track and Field team hosted their first indoor home meet of the 2024-25 season on Saturday, Jan. 18 at Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse. The Panthers finished with eight athletes who recorded a first-place in their respective events.
Matthew Gladieux started the day off strong for the Panthers, claiming first place in the Weight Throw with a distance of 17.93m. Gladieux's day didn't finish there as he would go on to record a throw of 16.50m in the Shot Put to claim his second first-place finish of the afternoon.
In addition, Eastern Illinois ended the day with three athletes finishing in first place across three different jump events.
Ramsey Hunt continued his dominance in the long jump, recording a distance of 7.60m, and earned the top spot on the podium.
Enoch Appiah-Kubi also found success in the sand pit, notching a first-place finish in the triple jump after logging a distance of 13.60m.
Elijah Skutt would cap off the Panther high jump efforts, finishing in first place after recording a jump of 2.05m.
Furthermore, the Panthers finished with four more athletes who claimed the top spot in different running events.
Abby Venhaus led the EIU sprinters, capturing first place in the 200m run after clocking a time of 26.55 seconds  She also earned a strong second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.40 meters.
Jahleel Perrin concluded his 60m efforts with a time of 22.51 in which he also earned a first-place finish.

Stoddard shined for the EIU distance runners, picking up first-place finishes in both the mile run and the 3000m. Torres ended with a time of 5:07.01 after a strong last-lap effort propelled her into the top spot and Stoddard finished the 3000m with pace, recording a time of 8:30.09.
The Panthers are back in action on Friday, Jan. 24 as they travel to Champaign, Ill. to compete in the Illini Invite
